The occurrence is located in a very shallow depression at the edge of an agricultural area. The depression is kept wet by an unnamed run which runs under a small road immediately to the east of the forest from the mountain farther to the east.The south, west and north of the forest are bounded by hay fields. The Ohio River lies 0.25 mi. to the west, across the RR and another set of fields.;There is regeneration of Fraxinus and Quercus bicolor.
